RTGX was awarded a prime contract by the Department of Defense to provide expert level virtualization consulting across various IT domains that support mission critical applications and infrastructure. The Government based its award in part due to its knowledge in other DoD sectors that RTGX was leading the way for large complex efforts in the effective architecture and implementation of large-scale virtualization efforts. Senior DoD Technical Staff had repeatedly singled RTGX out for its innovation, mission focus and virtualization expertise.
The Problem:
The organization needed to promote the effective use of VMware to maximize the enterprise mission of critical systems worldwide. While some organizations were keen on the use of virtualization others were reluctant and did not understand the benefits to mission agility and reliability of infrastructure needed to support DoD objectives. The organization also needed to increase the knowledge and awareness of virtualization benefits for DoD personnel deployed around the globe with responsibility for server management.
The overall goal is to increase the speed and reduce cycle times needed to increase mission readiness through more automated management and increasing scalability.
The RTGX Solution
RTGX's solution for accelerating mission execution through virtualization:
RTGX provides training as needed in virtualization and virtualization management using customized content specific to the customer environment. RTGX provides 411 type services to stake holders helping them figure out how their applications can better meet mission demands through virtualization. When mission areas encounter what they think are failures in application performance due to VMware, RTGX collaborates with the technical staff and conducts a review and provides assistance that to date has resulted in an awareness that most issues were found to be related to poor coding rather than related to VMware. RTGX audits the VMware implementations and works with stake holders by providing tuning and best practices that have resulted in improvements in the use and implementation of VMware and an increase in mission management, execution and goal attainment. RTGX continues to increase the customer’s scalability, reduce complexity and provide economic efficiencies.
RTGX is also assisting with architecting VMware based solutions that increase high availability and provide a fault tolerant environment. We are also using our network expertise in combination with our virtualization expertise to increase bandwidth utilization needed to reduce time to mission ready availability at remote sites. The Government is also leveraging RTGX’s expertise in storage technologies from vendors such as HP and NetApp.
